In conjunction with Lifeline Project, Mancunians is proud to announce walking football will be available through the club beginning in late May 2016.
What is walking football?
It’s a slower version of the beautiful game, suitable for men and women over the age of 50 and for those with an illness. It’s played indoors on a pitch the same size as a 5-a-side pitch.
Along with allowing participates to play a variant of football and gain exercise, walking football allows players the opportunity to build relationship with acquaintances new and old.
Improving Health and Wellbeing
At one of our recent sessions, we asked the participants to wear pedometers and Fitbit activity tracker which we provided for them and the results were outstanding and prove that your fitness and health will improve by taking part.
– One lady covered 4 miles in 55 minutes
– Another person had a max heart rate of 161
– Average max heart rates across the group were 155
– The average steps per person taken across the group over 55 minutes was 4,500
This means that taking part in Walking Football sessions at Mancunians will improve your health and fitness.
Sessions take place every Saturday morning from 10.00-11.00 and coast £2.50 which includes a free cup of tea or coffee afterwards.
