Manchester's Dual Code Rugby Club

Mancunians will make history tonight when they play their first ever game of rugby union, making them the Manchester’s first ever dual code rugby club. (KO 20.00)

Mancunians, who usually ply their trade in the North West Counties Rugby League have affiliated to the RFU in the North West and will kick-off their Rugby Union career with a game against Carrington Barbarians on the brand new 3G surface at Platt Lane, which is also Mancunians’ training ground.

Platt Lane has recently been purchased by Manchester Metropolitan University which boasts two of the best student rugby union and rugby league teams in the UK and who also play at Platt Lane, which is the former training ground of Manchester City FC.

The coaching team, which consists of Pakistani dual code Rugby international, Saqib Murtza, former Kenyan 7’s and Rugby Union International and Super League Star, Lucas Onyango and Experienced Rugby Union forward, John Ward have recruited heavily in readiness for their first game.
