Manchester's Dual Code Rugby Club

Bulldogs Pose Tough Test for Mancunians

Mancunians’ Rugby League squad face a tough test this weekend when they take on Fitton Hill Bulldogs of Oldham, writes Sonny Bill Williams.

The game has been hastily arranged following a late withdrawal of scheduled opponents, Aspull Lions who Mancunians defeated last weekend by 30-0. Fitton Hill are placed two divisions above Mancunians and pose a stern challenge for Manchester’s Rugby League club even though they are unbeaten this year so far. IMG_3784

The Bulldogs are situated mid table in Division 3 and are packed full of seasoned Rugby League players but Mancunians’ Player Manager Saqib Murtza welcomes the challenge. “We have a relatively new squad this year but we have moulded together very quickly and we are looking forward to challenging ourselves against The Bulldogs.” He said. “We’re keen to continue our development and the opportunity to play against a team a couple of divisions above us has come just at the right time.” Said the dual code Pakistani international.

“Most of our players are rugby union players who have chosen to come over to play league during the summer but they have learnt the game very quickly and are playing with lots of confidence and we are very much looking forward to the game.”
