Manchester's Dual Code Rugby Club

Annual Planning Day – This Saturday

Mancunians’ Annual Planning Day takes place this weekend, and we’d like you to come along.

It’s our annual get together to review the clubs performance over the last 12 months and set out the roadmap for the next year and beyond.

Last year was a great success and we’re looking to build on that this Saturday. All members are encouraged to attend if you want to have a say in the strategic direction of the club over the next few years.

At last years event we discussed how we could use the Rugby League World Cup to inspire young people to play rugby league and as a result of our planning, Mancunians have coached over 250 young people in local high schools and we have a group of under 15 boys ready to enter the North West Counties rugby league in 2014.

Last year was the first time that we formally discussed including Handball as part of our offer. Thanks to this advance planning, Mancunians now coach boys and girls at Handball at Parrs Wood High School at Under 16 and under 14 level and we expect to be able to field at least one junior handball team within the next few months.

These are just two examples of items that were discussed last year for the first time and if 2014 is half as successful as 2013, then we’ll see the club leap forward once again.

We’ll circulate details of the exact agenda and timings of the day later this week but if you would like to suggest anything for discussion, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the club.

If you would like to stand for a position on the board of directors, then please let me know as soon as possible. There are a total of seven places available on the board of directors, with the Treasurer, Secretary and Chairman selected by those people who are successful in being voted onto the board. We have board meetings every three months where we discuss strategic items and we would welcome new additions to the board to assist us to move forward even further.

The board is supported by ‘operational groups’ which are open for anyone to attend. These take place every Monday evening at Chorlton Park Lodge. The four groups that currently meet are: Finance and Operations, Community Development, Coaching and Performance and Marketing. These groups are perfect for those people with a few hours to spare each month and want to support the club, but who don’t want the responsibility of being a board member.
